i haven't blogged in 4 months, isn't that insane?
i even shut my blog down completely. i just reposted all of my old entries, and even changed the blog name. when i republished everything i even published some never-before-seen posts. ohhh. ahhhhh.
eden's baby sister was placed into state custody, and ultimately into our home. this was a big blow to a lot of hearts, including mine, and so i just needed a break from this blog, to protect this family that i love so much.
but here we are. baby H is 4 months and one week old. she is a perfect, beautiful, easy baby. she is so laid back and smiley.
it was a bittersweet first couple of months. sleep deprivation with a newborn is REALLY different when you can't "sleep when the baby sleeps" because umm you have a 2 year old to feed and watch and keep alive. we picked up H on a monday and stefen went to work an hour later. there is no "maternity/paternity" leave when you're a foster parent. if you grow a baby in your body people will roll out the red carpet, fan you with large leaves and feed you grapes. not as such with fostering. so i was exhausted by day 7 and was for real like ready to curl up in a hot oven with my poetry. but! we made it! "harmie" (eden's nickname for her) is sleeping through the night, drinking lots of formula, and is a happy little clam.
harmie is currently getting weekly visits and her parents have been approved to work a plan to be reunified with her.
in other news, our other baby, eden, is days away from being a french! we will be before the judge in roughly two weeks (or so our attorney says). how exciting?! it seems kind of anti-climactic because she has been ours for SO LONG. i never needed a judge to slam a gavel to feel that. ok, but yes i need a judge to slam the gavel just kidding.
what might be even more exciting, is that she is sleeping in a big girl bed. i can't. i sobbed. it's a beautiful new chapter where i get to lay down with her every night, and that is my favorite. actually, she usually demands stefen and i both lay down, and it's the best little cozy eden sandwich. she is also trucking along on potty training. we put a brief hold on being all enthusiastic about it because: harmie.
on my front: since we talked last, i turned 29 and i'm still a little baby who doesn't know anything. my boo and i started year 6 of marriage on the 20th. my lungs are having a hard time with the cooler weather but are for the most part feeling good.
finn and lars are losing brain cells daily. the dumbest but sweetest pups in OK.
stefen is now working for the university and is loving it. we decided it was best for his mental and physical health to flip nursing the bird and move on to something different. being hospitalized for a month with bacterial meningitis was a game changer for our lives.
big hugs.
the end.
